Creative Call-Back (Various Times -- Swirls)

When I was little, I always wished I could draw. I loved my art classes, but sadly, I just couldn't draw realistic things. A few years ago, I decided to try designs, just swirls, and see where it went. Well, it didn't really go anywhere, but I have fun doing them, so I figured I'd share the few that I have scanned. There are probably a dozen more, but they're all the same so I'm not going to waste my time. :P

Rain is beautiful, isn't it? These pictures are from last fall some day when I was bored. Out of the twenty-five or so that I took, these are the only two that are decent, but I like them.

When we first got our pool, everything from the patio to the flowers to the pool itself was new. It was supposed to be done early June of 2008, but a whole series of things got in the way to the point that it wasn't finished until that November. November is not a time to grow flowers and splash in a pool, especially in New England when it's already below freezing.

Because of that, I didn't get around to taking pictures of the area until the spring of 2009. Here are a few I liked from that file.

Have You Ever Seen a Fishy?

So I've always wanted to keep some sort of blog but I've never known what to keep it about. I never keep up with any of the blogs I start and I usually end up editing out most of the meaningful blog entries because they're too personal.

Anyway, Coco inspired me :]

I'm going to try to keep a blog of artwork of all kinds. I figure that through my various mediums of art, I'll be able to express myself without being too open and besides, if I do anything creative (which is a regular occurrence for me), I'll be reminded to blog. :P

So for now, I'm going to start by uploading some pictures I've taken in the past. I'm hoping that maybe I'll be able to see my creative style develop through this blog. We'll see.

But to begin, my name.

I was trying to come up with something to call this blog and it just wasn't happening, but random songs I used to sing with my family as a child kept popping into my head. One which we used to shout out the car windows on our yearly eleven-hour-drives just wouldn't let me be. The funny thing is, it's not even my favorite and I probably haven't sung it in about seven years. Nonetheless, I decided to use it as my name.

It's called "Have You Ever Seen a Fishy?" (or at least, that's what we called it) and you may have heard it before. The first few words are stretched and elongated running into the rest of the song sang as quickly as you can make your mouth churn the words out. It goes like this:

Haaaaaaaveee Youuuuu ever seen a fishy on a bright summer day?
Have you ever seen a fishy going swimming in the bay?
With his hands in his pockets and his pockets in his pants, have you ever seen a fishy do the hoochie coochie dance?
Yoooouuuu neeeeveeeer did *clap clap* you never will.

Haaaaaaaveee Youuuuu ever seen a fishy on a cold winter day?
Have you ever seen a fishy frozen solid in the bay?
With his hands in his pockets and his pockets in his pants 'cause it's too darn cold to do the hoochie coochie dance?
Yoooouuuu neeeeveeeer did *clap clap* you never will.
